Earp to lead NORA as new slate of directors are announced

The Northeast Oklahoma Regional Alliance (NORA) held its annual membership meeting in Pryor recently on the campus of Rogers State University. The meeting provided members with an annual report on organizational wins for 2016-17 and announced a new slate of directors under the leadership of a new elected chair, Johnnie Earp of Jay, Oklahoma.

 In addition to Earp, Horace Lindley of Gore was selected at Treasurer. Anna Knight remains the organization’s Secretary and Dr. Ron Cambiano will continue to serve as Vice-Chair. Both Knight and Cambiano hale from Cherokee County. 

 The group recognized the service of three retiring directors, Former Senator Jim Wilson of Tahlequah, Mayor Elaine Carr of West Silom Springs, and Ed Crone of Claremore. 

 “NORA has accomplished so much over the last year,” stated Chairman Earp. “We successfully developed a regional workforce plan for the Cherokee Nation, established a regional leadership effort, and began focusing on legislative advocacy for the region.”

 In addition to the accomplishments mentioned by Earp, NORA launched a new website promoting northeast Oklahoma. NORA continues to provide a venue for stakeholders to collaborate and share resources at quarterly events.  The next event will be the 9th Annual Regional Summit, on October 24 entitled, Healthy Communities: Strong Region. 

 During the annual meeting the alliance accepted nine new directors to its board of directors.

New directors include:

  • Steve Gilbert, Miami
  • Andy McMillan, Cherokee Nation
  • Jason Nichols, Tahlequah
  • Shelldon Miggletto, Stilwell
  • Clayton Lucas, Sallisaw
  • Tami McKeon, Welch

Returning Directors include:

  • Judy McCombs, Eufaula
  • Stanley Young, Hulbert
  • Diana Forth, Nowata County

 Other directors include: Anna Knight, Diane Kelley, Horace Lindley, Ron Cambiano, Johnnie Earp, Jeri Koehler, Justin Alberty, Scott Fry, Suzanne Sullivan, Barbara Hawkins, Sherry Alexander and Marie Synar.
